Healed ombre powder brow result, soft shaded gradient from light front to defined tail

most popular · 1 hr 35 min

ombre powder shadow shading

Also known as powder, ombre, or shaded brows, this is our most requested technique. It gives the appearance of brows softly tinted with eyeshadow or pencil, adding volume, symmetry, and fullness.

Using a permanent makeup machine, the artist implants fine dots of pigment with a stippling method, lighter at the head of the brow and gradually deeper toward the tail. Layered gradually, the result is a natural gradient with real depth, never block-like.

Ombre powder is ideal for filling sparse brows, covering gaps, or building an entirely new shape. It suits all skin types, is considered gentler than microblading, and the intensity can be tuned from soft and natural to more defined.

Please note: the initial price covers one procedure only. A touch-up might be necessary — usually 1–3 months after your initial appointment — to add color and refine the tone or shape. If needed, it is booked and paid for separately ($200). Prices do not include taxes and credit card fees.

Nano brow hair replication result, ultra-realistic individual hair strokes

most natural · 1 hr 40 min

nano brows & hair replication

Hair replication, also called nano brows, creates an ultra-realistic appearance of individual hairs, applied with a tattoo machine and detailed micro-needles. This is not microblading. The result is as natural as possible.

Pigment is implanted to mimic the look of tiny hair follicles and strands, restoring the appearance of fuller brows. Every session is customized: pigments are mixed to match your natural hair color and skin tone, and the angle and depth of each stroke follow your own growth pattern.

Unlike old tattoo inks, modern pigments are formulated to fade into natural shades over time, never blue or green. The results are waterproof, smudge-proof, and need very little maintenance.

Please note: the initial price covers one procedure only. A touch-up might be necessary — usually 1–3 months after your initial appointment — to add color and refine the tone or shape. If needed, it is booked and paid for separately ($200). Prices do not include taxes and credit card fees.

an honest note

why we do nano brows instead of microblading

We don't offer microblading. It's a semi-permanent technique that uses a small handheld blade of tiny needles to cut fine, hair-like strokes into the skin. It became popular for its natural look, but it comes with real trade-offs, which is why we use nano brows instead.

  • Scarring risk. Because microblading cuts into the skin, repeated sessions can build up scar tissue and change the skin's texture over time.
  • Skin type limits. Oily, sensitive, thin, or aging skin can cause pigment to bleed and strokes to heal blurred.
  • Faster, uneven fading. Sun exposure, skincare, and metabolism can fade strokes unevenly, meaning more frequent touch-ups.

For these reasons, we've never offered microblading. Instead, we do machine hair replication (nano brows): less invasive, more precise, suitable for a wider range of skin types, and formulated to fade gracefully, the same hair-stroke look, without the drawbacks of the blade.

Choosing an artist

how to choose a brow artist on the eastside

Permanent brows last years, so the artist matters more than the appointment. Five things we tell every client to check, whether they book with us or not.

  1. 01

study healed results, not fresh ones

Fresh brows always look crisp. Ask to see healed work, our gallery and 5-star Google reviews show what brows look like months later, which is the result you actually live with.

  2. 02

    ask which technique, and why

Microblading cuts into the skin and can blur on oily or mature skin. Machine techniques like hair replication (nano brows) are less invasive, suit more skin types, and hold their shape longer.

  3. 03

    check the pigments

Modern PMU pigments are designed to fade into natural shades over time, not the blues and greens of old tattoo inks. A good artist mixes pigment to your hair color and skin tone.

  4. 04

    look for mapping before needles

Every appointment at Calypso starts with brow mapping and a shape consultation. Nothing is tattooed until you approve the design.

  5. 05

    ask how mistakes get fixed

Ask what happens if you change your mind later, or if the artist makes a mistake: how will they fix it? We have our own laser tattoo removal in the studio, so brow pigment can be lightened or fully removed right here if it ever needs to be.

questions, answered

brow faq

How long do permanent eyebrows last?

Typically one to three years, sometimes longer. The pigment is deposited more shallowly than body tattoos and is designed to fade gradually into natural shades over time. A refresh session keeps the color and shape looking their best.

Does it hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as light scratching or plucking. We apply a topical anesthetic during the procedure to numb the area — never beforehand, as pre-numbing can affect the healed result. Once it takes effect most people feel minimal to no discomfort.

What's the difference between ombre powder and nano brows?

Ombre powder shading ($550) gives a soft, filled-in look, like brows tinted with eyeshadow, and suits all skin types. Nano brow hair replication ($600) draws individual hair strokes with a machine for the most natural, hair-like finish. We'll help you choose based on your skin, existing hair, and the look you want.

Do I need a touch-up session?

Yes, permanent makeup is a two-step procedure. A touch-up session ($200), usually 1 to 3 months after the initial appointment, adds color and refines the tone or shape for the best possible, longest-lasting result. To fix or improve work by another artist, please book a standard procedure instead.

Do you offer microblading?

No — we've never offered microblading. It cuts into the skin and can scar, blur on oily or sensitive skin, and fade unevenly. Machine hair replication (nano brows) achieves the same hair-stroke look with more precision, less trauma, and better longevity across skin types.

What if I don't like the result?

We have our own laser tattoo removal right here in the studio. If you change your mind later, or want a shape or color corrected, eyebrow tattoo removal ($150 per session) can lighten or fully remove the pigment.

Who is a good candidate for permanent eyebrows?

Almost anyone who wants fuller, more defined brows without daily makeup. It's especially helpful for hair loss from over-plucking, alopecia, or chemotherapy. Results are waterproof, smudge-proof, and low-maintenance.

How much do permanent eyebrows cost in Bellevue / Kirkland?

At Calypso Beauty, Ombre Powder Brows are $550 and Nano Brows / Hair Replication are $600, with a perfecting touchup session at $200. Permanent makeup is a two-step procedure, the touchup 1–3 months later completes the result.
